South Florida Condo and Home Sales up in March as prices continue to drop

Florida existing condo and single family home sales rose yet again in March. According to a recent report released by the Florida Association of Realtors, Statewide figures for Condo sales rose 24 percent as compared to the same figures in March 2010, while statewide sales for single family homes rose 12 percent during that same time period.
In the tri-county area (Miami-Dade, Broward & Palm Beach counties), the report showed a 46.4 percent increase in condo sales which was almost double the 24 percent increase statewide. And a 28.4 percent increase in tri-county single-family home sales which were more than double the 12 percent increase statewide.
Although South Florida on the whole showed a decrease in median prices, sales continue to rise. - Broward: Sales were up 25 percent to 1,837 units, and the average price was up 1 percent.
- Palm Beach: Sales were up 47 percent to 1,467 units, and the average price was down 17 percent.
